PROCESS
A BENCH DESIGN PROCESS IS ONE THAT EMPHASIZES A THOUGHTFUL, STRATEGIC, PROJECT-SPECIFIC APPROACH.
We design with the land and the natural systems that shape it, with the objective of minimizing the ecological footprint of our projects and maximizing climate change adaptation and community resilience. Our process centres deep research, values community and interest-holder engagement, prioritizes site-responsive place-making and ecological infrastructure, and aims to achieve design solutions that build community, and improve human health and ecological function.
We are committed to keeping abreast of advancements in research, tools, and technology in the field of landscape architecture and applying these in our work. We do this, in part, by conducting a thorough site analysis which informs sensitive program siting that respects natural systems, soil, vegetation, landform and other conditions. We employ life cycle analysis and embodied carbon calculations in our design process and provide durable solutions that utilize appropriately sourced materials in efficient ways.
We believe that our projects are improved when they are evaluated from multiple perspectives, and that all members of our team have something valuable to contribute to each and every project. No one individual is responsible for authoring the design of any of our projects; they are instead the result of collaborative effort, critique, and dialogue.
